Shout Outs from Labor day weekend

Raleigh Beer Week - Landmark TavernImage by amgenove via FlickrI am so glad I stayed in town this weekend! We enjoyed the last of day of Raleigh Beer Week at one of my favorite neighborhood bars, Landmark Tavern, where we sampled a rare Natty Greene's brew. After filling up on pork nachos at The Raleigh Times, we commenced our First Friday walk. Hopscotch fans will definitely want to check out Emily Price's photos at The Busy Bee. I want to give a special shout out to Jenn Hales shop, Patima. She's an amazing artist! We were especially taken by her piece "Scissors & Birds".

On Saturday, we continued Raleigh Beer Week for one more day by going to Draft to sample Terrapin and Shmaltz Reunion '11, which is one of the most interesting beers I have tasted. It has a chocolate/vanilla flavor with a spicy chili pepper finish. I want to give an extra special Shout Out to Draft. We were absolutely devastated to find that the cheesy poofs had been removed from the menu due to a vendor issue. The manager discovered a few left in the back and served them to us. Thank you!!! While RST understands Draft's dilemma, we hope that they will keep cheesy poofs at least on a limited basis - maybe a weekly special?
