One of my new(ish) favorite downtown spots is Calavera. It's down on the corner of Davie and Blount, across from ArtSpace, and has a cool downstairs bar and nice upstairs seating, as well as outside tables (if you like this 95ยบ heat, that is). The best part is the $3 empanada menu, which are perfect for a light meal, especially paired with their awesome guac and a tequila flight. And the best BEST part is that on every third Thursday, they have these empanadas at half-price! That's right, pastry-wrapped goodness for a buck fiddy each. If you haven't checked this spot out yet, tonight is the night.
