Triangle Restaurant Week - Last Day!

It's the last day of restaurant week! Time to carefully choose what menu you want to indulge in tonight. We've featured several $20 menus this week, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Sitti has one, too. If you haven't been there, you have to go. I'm telling you, I could put their garlic whip on everything. Here's the menu:

Mezze (choose one)

Beet Salad - Oven roasted baby beets, tangerines, goat cheese, arugula & spiced walnuts tossed in a tarragon vinegrette

Seafood Chowder - New England style with salmon, sea bass, mahi & swordfish

Entree (choose one)

Mixed Grill - Chicken Kabob & Kafta Kabob served with Sitti Rice, Summac onion, Grilled Roma Tomato & Garlic Whip

Salmon Tripoli - Pan seared, served over lentils & rice, Haricot vert, caramelized onion & spiced tahini sauce

Bell Pepper - Stuffed with vegetables & rice finished with tomato arak puree & yogurt drizzle

Dessert (choose one)

Ashta Pistachio Cake - Yellow cake layered with Ashta cream, Pistachio whipped icing & honey

Banana Chocolate Bread Pudding - Served warm with Jim Beam Bourbon sauce & vanilla bean ice cream

Meanwhile, there are plenty of $30 menus for fantastic spots, too. I've heard some great things about Battistella's, which opened last fall, and Mo's Diner is a favorite spot of mine. Let us know what you tried over 2012's first TRW!

Triangle Restaurant Week - Caffe Luna

On Thursday, I checked out Caffe Luna's TRW menu. It's got one of the best deals at only $20 for dinner, plus $12 wine bottle specials. Here's what they've got:

Insalata:

Insalata di Cesare - Caesar Salad

Insalata del Pastore - Mixed Green Salad with Goat Cheese and Walnuts

Entree:

Rigatoni Amatriciana - A roman specialtiy. Rigatoni with bacon and onion saute in a spicy tomato sauce.

Tortelloni di Funghi - Porcini mushroom stuffed in a cremini mushroom cream sauce.

Rollatini de Manzo - Beef stuffed with prociutto, raisins, and pignoli nuts braised in a red wine tomato sauce.

Filetto Di Maile - Roast loin of pork stuffed with apricots. Plums and pignoli nuts in a madiera mushroom ragu.

Dolci:

Torta di mousse ciocolato

Zabaglione

I got the rigatoni and it was delicious. I love a spicy gravy! Also, the zabaglione is phenomenal and not on their regular menu. Don't be afraid to order it - just say "za-ba-yone" and you'll be fine!

Meanwhile, I am off to Raleigh Times this morning to try their beer flight for a nice Saturday brunch. In addition to their $20 dinner that Amy told you about the other day, they have a $15 lunch option, too!

Triangle Restaurant Week - Triangle Restaurant Week kicks off TODAY! TRW celebrates the culinary excellence of area restaurants. Participating restaurants will feature 420-$30 prix fixe meals all week, so now is your chance to try something new for an affordable price. RST will feature a $20 prix fixe menu each day this week!


Bartender's Ball - On Sunday, Jan. 29th, 606 Lounge will host their annual Bartender's Ball featuring $3 wells and a champagne toast at midnight. You must have a ticket to attend, so be sure to pick one up at the bar before Sunday.


Gastropub Beer Dinner - The G2B Gastropub in Durham will be hosting a beer dinner featuring brews from Lonerider Brewery on Thursday, Feb. 2nd. This 4-course meal costs $32 per person and seating is limited. Reserve your seat by calling 919-251-9451.

Indoor Activities

If the weather predictions are correct, it looks like there will be no sun on this Sunday! It's a perfect day to take in some art in our very own cozy NC Museum of Art. Today is the last day for the Rembrandt in America exhibit. The last day of these special exhibits can be a little crazy, so I recommend purchasing a ticket before you go to reduce your wait time. The last showing is at 4 PM.

If art's not your thing, there is plenty of football to watch! Catch the Giants vs. the 49ers at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe this evening and enjoy $9 Miller Lite Pitchers and $6 bombs.
