What did you do this weekend?

This weekend I went to two restaurants for the first time, The Pickled Onion and Zely & Ritz.

The Pickled Onion is a standard bar with the expected bar food fare. There are lots of TV's and nice patio area. I will likely come here if I am looking for a good sports bar on the weekend and I want to stay in the North Raleigh area. I recommend the chili. They also have daily drink specials, which are listed on the sidebar. Tonight, enjoy $2 Miller Light, $4 glasses of house wine and $5 Soco Lime shots.

Zely & Ritz, was just as fancy as I had suspected. The wine was expensive and the portions, though tasty, were incredibly small for the price. They bill themselves as a wine bar, but there were no wines by the glass under $9. I ordered one of their signature cocktails instead, a Glenwood Manhattan. It's a basic Manhattan with Peach Schnapps added. I want to thank the bartender for giving me my money's worth-the drink was strong. I ordered their Tomato and Mozzarella Plate as an appetizer and the tomatoes tasted like they were just picked off of the vine. None of their entrees interested me in particular, so I ordered another small plate for my entree, the Crab Cake with Watermelon salsa. It was delicious!

I expected my portions to be small, since I had only ordered appetizers, but I noticed that many in my group ordered entrees and they were not much bigger than my appetizer plates. Zely & Ritz is a great place for a fancy night out, but beware that you may leave hungry! I recommend going on Mondays, when the wine is half price.

What did YOU do this weekend? Try any new restaurants?
