The State Fair is not the Only Fair

If you're headed to the NC State Fair today, my advice is: wear loose pants. If you've decided to avoid the first-weekend crowds, you can still fete it up at the Pullen & Sertoma Arts Centers' Fall Arts Fair or the Cooke Street Carnival! Check out the art exhibits, live music, and kids' activities at the Pullen Arts Center until 5:00 today. If pie-eating is more your speed, Cooke Street has your back. There will be TWO Piebird pie-eating events and also basically every cool food truck, as well as circus-themed entertainment like tarot reading and a dunking booth. It's on Cooke Street, south of the Oakwood cemetary - you can link to a map from their site. Bring cans to donate to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina during the event (from 1:00 to 6:00). Do you think it's a coincidence that Fall begins with the same letter as Fair, Festival, and Fiesta? I don't.
